7 effective ways how to sell affiliate products online

Affiliate marketing is a great way to start a home business with very low overheads. If you are just getting started you may be wondering how to sell affiliate products online, so in this post you’ll learn 7 effective ways to make money in affiliate marketing.

Foundation to all affiliate marketing promotion

One thing you really need to know as you are just starting out is that regardless of what platform or marketing strategy you use, you need to be congruent with what affiliate products you are promoting.

A lot of times I’ll see people promoting several different things. Unfortunately they often are completely unrelated to their overall niche, and content.  It’s okay to promote different things, but you want them to be congruent stack top of each other.

An example of something not congruent, is someone promoting three or four different network marketing businesses that compete with each other.  It’s so much harder to build an organization and team when you are trying to funnel everyone into different things that are competing.

If you are going to promote multiple things, make sure that they all flow into each other.  For example, maybe you do affiliate marketing, coaching, and sell info product courses.

These three examples could fit well together, because each could help someone in the same business.

You also want congruence with the affiliate products you are promoting and the content you are using to promote them.  For example if I wanted to promote a big screen TV such as this TV, It would be much more congruent in a TV review post, vs a post about weight loss.

The more congruent you can be, with the content and the offers, the more likely you are to sell affiliate products.

1. Use blog posts to sell affiliate products online

Blogging is one of the most effective ways how to sell affiliate products online. There are many reasons why blogging is an effective strategy to sell affiliate products online, but one key is that you actually own it.

Marketing your business through social media is absolutely something you should do. However, social media marketing does have its drawbacks. The fact that you don’t control those platforms is a major reason blogging should be one of your affiliate marketing strategies.

Another reason blogging is a very effective way how to sell affiliate products online,  is that it is evergreen content. Basically this means you can create a blog post once, and it can continue to work for you forever.

Blog posts can also capitalize on SEO and free traffic from google. As you write quality content and blog posts, with proper SEO, Google will continue to bring people to your site.

This can lead to repeat affiliate product sales from a single blog post you created once.

What to blog about as an effective strategy for how to sell affiliate products online

How to create blog posts another question you may have.  The foundation to selling effectively through blogging is value-based content that solves your niches,  problems, needs and wants.

As you create this value-based content you simply direct your readers to affiliate products and offers that can further solve their problems.

An example of this is let’s say you promote nutrition, wellness and weight loss. You could create a post about 10 tips for detoxing and weight loss. Then throughout the post you could direct people to this course on how to lose weight with a red tea detox

The offer above is both congruent with that weight loss blog post, and also helps the reader take their results further.

Any time you suggest an affiliate product, it works best when it is a step up from what your value based content mentions. This will lead to higher conversions from your affiliate offers and help you make more sales.

2. Set up a products/resources page

Another passive strategy and effective way to sell affiliate products online is by having a product and resources or training products page on your website.  This strategy is a more hands-off approach for the traffic that comes to your site on a regular basis.

As you continue to create value based content on your site and drive traffic back to it, a percentage of the people that visit, will be curious to see what type of products and resources you have available.

Similar to letting someone walk around your store and look around everything you have for sale.  Imagine it like when you go to the store  and when someone asks you if they can help you find something.

The typical response you give is I’m just looking. That’s what you’re allowing someone to do when you set up a product and resources page.  Your site visitors can come and go as they please, but your offers are always there for them to buy on your products/resources page.

This marketing strategy can be a great addition to blogging as a way to sell affiliate products online.

3. Use YouTube videos and video marketing as a way how to sell affiliate products online

One of the most powerful strategies for affiliate marketing is video marketing and making YouTube videos.  Video marketing is one of the best ways to build trust, rapport, and credibility with your audience.

All things being equal people tend to do business with those that they know, like and trust. Video marketing is a great way to build that relationship. Audience sees you as a real person and then they’re much more likely to buy your affiliate products.

This is a similar strategy to blogging where you create value based content and then simply direct people to an affiliate offer after your video.  You can do this directly by telling them in the video to go to an offer, or by having links to affiliate products in your description.

Also similar to blogging, you want your affiliate products you are promoting to be congruent with the content you are creating.  For example if you did a video about creating videos and you talked about what camera or lighting use, you could direct your viewers the same lighting setup you used.

Video marketing also has some of the same advantages of blogging,  its evergreen content, and with YouTube it can capitalize on SEO.

4. Use webinars, screen shares, or zoom calls to sell more affiliate products

Another very effective strategy to use that’s the way how to sell affiliate products online is through webinars, screen shares, or zoom calls. The great thing with these strategies is that you can do them live or automated.

An additional advantage to this marketing strategy, is that you can apply the leverage of one too many.  You can certainly set up a screen share or Zoom call with an individual person, but you could also do this in the form where you are presenting to many people at once.

This is great because it doesn’t take you any extra time and you can market your affiliate products offer too many people once.  The idea behind this affiliate marketing strategy is to walk your prospects through what all they get the course or product you promote.

Ideally you want to be an owner of the product or user what you’re talking about.  This makes it easier to sell your personal experience and testimonies with specific product.

An example if you sold a lead generation system that helps people grow their business online is you can walk them through all the tools they get and how to use them to grow their business.  I’ve use this exact strategy to become one of the top affiliates with one of the program’s I promote.

5. Use tripwire and up-sells in sales funnels as an effective strategy for how to sell affiliate products online

Using up-sells and tripwire products in conjunction with your lead generation strategy is another effective way how to sell affiliate products online. The foundation of this is similar to the blogging and video marketing strategy.  You offer valuable content to get a lead first, and then promote your affiliate product from there.

They’re are varieties of costs of affiliate products, a small offer after generating a lead is called a tripwire product. Basically it is a product that’s around $7 to $27. You offer it to someone that initially becomes a new lead.

Obviously not everyone will buy this product, but a percentage of people do. This works especially well when you offer it to people at a discount.  This product may even just be ton of value that sells for a low price, discount or not.

Certainly your tripwire product needs to be congruent with the lead magnet you offer. Additionally  you can offer an up-sell of a higher affiliate product after someone purchases your trip wire products.

This strategy works well for both products that you created,  or affiliate products of other people. It is essential that you offer value-based content for you first, and then up-sell them on an affiliate offer that is congruent with your free offer.

6. Email marketing

Email marketing is another very powerful strategy to sell affiliate products.  You can use this in conjunction with a sales funnel and using tripwire and up-sells as mentioned earlier.

You start with creating a lead magnet are you offer for free in exchange for someone’s email.  After that you can direct them toward your affiliate offer. Certainly not everyone will buy immediately,  but with email marketing you have the power to continue to re-market to your list.

Once someone has joined your email list, your job is simply continue to provide valuable content to them. Then as you continue to provide value offer your affiliate products.

For example you may create a 10-day email series, that continues to share benefits an additional value. Have that series be congruent with your affiliate product offer. At the end of your email you can simply include a p.s. line, that directs the reader to your affiliate offer.

Most people don’t purchase the first time the hear about something.  However, after multiple exposures, the rate of buying increases. An email marketing drip campaign is a very effective way continue to develop a relationship with your list.

Do this by adding value and it will increase sales with affiliate marketing.

Tools to set up email marketing and start selling affiliate products

The great thing is email marketing is a very low cost strategy to grow your business.  You’ll want to set up an email autoresponder and sales funnel system to fully utilize the strategy.

7. Offer extra bonuses to those who buy affiliate products you sell

One thing that can separate you from other affiliates marketing the same products, is by adding extra bonuses in after someone purchases. There are many different options you could do for this.

You could offer one-on-one coaching, a Facebook group, extra training courses, additional products you sell, and more. The idea is you want to stack the value,  and turn the affiliate offer into an irresistible offer.

For example, you could sell an affiliate product lead generation software. As an extra bonus offer, throw in a prospecting recruiting course to go with it.

This example would work well because your bonus offers are congruent and a next-level step to go right along with the lead generation software.

Someone who is starting to generate leads is going to need to know what to say to them. They can then turn those leads into sales and sign ups for their business.  This bonus offer example is very attractive to a potential customer because it is congruent and stacks value specific to the product you are selling.

You can also create bonus offers that don’t require any more of your time beyond the initial setup.  Ideally you want to give away something you can create once, and that will continue to be reused and that it doesn’t require more of your time investment.

Implement these marketing strategies as a great foundation for how to sell affiliate products online more effectively.
