Are you Treating your Business like a Business or Just a Hobby?

A lot of people who aren’t getting results in their home business is because they aren’t treating their business like a business.

Do you have the tools your home business needs to succeed

A lot of people join a network marketing business or start marketing online and they just toy around with it because it didn’t cost much to get started. Even though you may have only spend a few hundred dollars to get started, that doesn’t mean you can’t earn a significant or more than full time income with it.

However most people end up treating their business like a hobby and have a lottery ticket mentality with it. They don’t put the time, money, or energy into it to really succeed big. For example a lot of people never decide to invest in themselves in either training, or tools to help them run their business more effectively.

They don’t think of it like a traditional business owner would. Let’s say for example that you owned a lawn mowing business and you wanted to expand. Most people in this case would invest in a second lawnmower, more gas, and maybe even hire a second employee.

Stop treating your business like a hobby if you want results

All of these things cost money, effort, and time, but they wouldn’t think twice because they wanted to grow their business and understood that was the price they had to pay to grow. However when it comes to a network marketing business, many people freak-out at investing 30 dollars for a training or buying a magazine to share their products.

Your new sales reps are like a new franchise getting started in your team. Would you ask a new McDonald’s franchise owner to buy cups and burgers and napkins when they opened? Of course you would, and the new owner would understand that is a part of doing business.

So where does the confusion come in when it’s now a home business instead? This is where you come in to educate your new sales reps and determine their goals. A network marketing business is a LOW cost business not a NO cost business.

New team members need to have proper expectations and understand that if they want big business and income results it is going to take a little bit of time and energy and probably investing some money in training and tools, just like any other business in the world.

If you want to keep hobby results it probably won’t cost you much in time or effort, but your business will probably also cost you money and not become profitable. This doesn’t mean you need to put in full time hours to make it work, but you do need to put in a full time effort in the hours you do put in as well as having a business owner mindset.
