Home Business Prospecting Tips: Not Everyone Is A Fit For Your Business

One of the best home business prospecting tips I can give you is to understand that not everyone you share your business with or prospect is going to be a good fit for your home business.

Home Business Prospecting Tips: Get out of the Everyone is going to join my business and should join mentality

Now this may seem counter intuitive, however it doesn’t mean you believe that your products or business isn’t a great thing. This also doesn’t mean that you don’t think everyone could benefit from your business and products.

It more so means that even though it would be great if everyone you showed joined, you should understand everyone you show isn’t really going to be a fit nor do you want to work with everyone.

When it comes to your product, of course try and have everyone get started as a customer. Your products should benefit almost everyone you are presenting your business to within reason. So again not saying you don’t promote your products, but when it comes to your business not everyone is going to be the kind of person you want to work with.

Home Business Prospecting Tips: Have a sorting mentality when it comes to recruiting not selling

For example, we all hear the pyramid objection from time to time in network marketing, and there is certainly different ways to handle this objection. However almost always this objection is thrown out in a negative way.

Of course some people truly don’t understand how network marketing isn’t a pyramid and pyramid schemes are illegal, but you need to determine whether people’s questions are positive or negative.

Often this kind of objection is said in a condescending sort of way that some how what they are doing is so much better and in most cases your prospect is broke and unhappy, which is the entire reason you are sharing your business with them.

For example two ways people could phrase the pyramid objection…”so this looks cool, but don’t only the people who get in the beginning or at the top make all the money?” vs “Oh this is just one of those pyramid scam things isn’t it? I don’t think this is for me.”

As you can tell one is far more leaning in the negative direction rather than just needing clarification and showing interest still. Depending on how much I like the person I may try and still overcome the objection and help them understand how the industry really works if it was a positive question, but negative questions and objections I tend to just sort those people.

I’ve found the main reason people aren’t selective in who they work with in their home business is because they just simply don’t have enough people to talk to. When you are desperate for leads and new prospects it’s hard not to be needy when you are prospecting. Would an extra 5-10 quality prospects for your business every week make a big difference?
