If you haven’t encountered it yet you will, the dreaded I need to talk to my spouse objection, so here are a few tips on how to deal with the I need to talk to my spouse objection in network marketing.

Step 1 For How to overcome the I need to talk to my spouse objection in network marketing – Isolate the objection

The first thing to keep in mind with any objection is that you want to isolate the objection to make sure you are dealing with something real. A lot of the time people just throw out objections so they can have more time to process things.

Another reason people throw out objections in network marketing is that it is really their way of trying to be polite instead of saying no to you. Here’s the thing, when you are recruiting and building your team in network marketing you should be sorting not selling.

A quick no is far better than a drawn-out maybe. So the first thing to do for how to deal with the I need to talk to my spouse objection is to make sure that is a real objection. So instead of directly trying to handle I need to talk to my husband or I need to talk to my wife, determine if that is for real or not first.

You can do this by confirming interest and then seeing it that is a legitimate objection or not. For example you might say something like, “Just so I’m understanding you correctly, you are totally on board and you love everything and if your spouse had been sitting next to you right now and saw what you just saw you would be ready to get started right now or was there something else holding you back?”

This determines actual interest in moving forward and could possibly drum up the actual objection rather than dealing with I need to talk to my spouse when that really isn’t an issue.

Step 2 for How to deal with the I need to talk to my spouse objection in network marketing

The I need to talk to my spouse concern often comes up when you aren’t actually talking to a decision maker. This is another thing you will want to isolate first if you are faced with someone saying I need to talk to my wife or I need to talk to my husband before I get started.

Again you should isolate the objection first, but you can also isolate and determine if the person is a decision maker as well.

For example you might say, “I can appreciate that you want to talk to your spouse first, however I’m just curious if they aren’t supportive, or don’t want to be any part of it, would you be ready to get started anyway? Basically are you going there to ask for permission to do this and get started or approval to have them on board first, or are you just wanting to run it by them, but you would get started with or without them wanting to do it?”

Doing this can help overcome I need to talk to my wife, or I need to talk to my husband because if they are going to do it with or without them, you might as well get them started on the spot because it doesn’t matter if they show them first.

Step 3 of how to handle the I need to talk to my spouse concern in network marketing

The final step if you haven’t already gotten them started is to show the decision maker. The main focus of this part is to get the information in front of the decision maker the correct way.

Too many times people are all excited and verbally vomit on their husband/wife and instead of having them see the presentation for what it really is they instead ruin it by trying to explain it before they see it.

The best way you can overcome the I need to talk to my spouse concern is to let them see a full presentation rather than a half explanation.

You can do this by going with your prospect to meet their spouse, or doing a 3 way call after the spouse has seen the presentation.

Overall these are the best ways to deal with the I need to talk to my wife concern and I need to talk to my husband concern. However something to keep in mind is that in my experience almost all if not every top earner I have met didn’t have this concern.

They either didn’t have a supportive spouse and got started anyway after they got their spouses input, or they never even asked their spouse first and just got started. Not that this objection can’t be overcame, but more so that you are looking for leaders and in most cases leaders won’t need support or permission before they take action on something that makes sense for them and their family’s future.
