How to Increase your productivity in 3 easy steps

Do you struggle with ways to increase productivity? Are you just being active but not getting much done with your business? A few simple tips on how to increase your productivity.

In today’s marketplace many companies are choosing to move towards having many of their employees work via telecommuting and looking for ways to increase productivity. Also many people on an individual basis are shifting to working for themselves or starting a part time home business in addition to their jobs. There are many benefits to working at home, however there can be some downfalls to your production if you don’t remain as focused as you were when working from a traditional work environment. Luckily there are a few simple tips you can put in place that can help you to increase your productivity while working from home.

The first tip to increase your productivity is going to be to find out what are your top income producing activities. When telecommuting there isn’t going to be a boss breathing down your neck or usually a specific guide to what you are to be doing every minute of the day.  Being more independent with your day is great but you will need to be focused to get the most productive day you can. If you want to know how to increase your productivity, you must first determine what of your daily actions actually produce the most income for you. Even if it isn’t your own business you can still figure this out, it could range from making sales calls, meeting with clients, or even finishing a specific project or proposal, whatever will bring in the most income for your company or business should be your main focus each day. This is one of the proven ways to increase productivity for your business.

The second tip to increase your productivity is avoid distraction activities that don’t affect your bottom line and that are not income producing activities. So many of us have become addicted to social media and get sucked into the email checking and status checking vortex. Avoid checking any emails or any type of social media for the first 2 hours of your work day. If you can hone in on only your top income producing activates for the first 2 hours of your day it will increase your productivity greatly. You will get far more done in the day if you leave things like checking emails to the end of the day, or even delegate that task out to someone else.

The third tip on how to increase your productivity is to double your time on how long you spend on your top priority tasks. For example if you are in sales and the only thing that brings in income is when you are meeting with prospects or making sales calls, double your time doing that. If you currently only spend an hour making calls or an hour in front of your potential customers, set a goal for yourself to double that exposure time. Changing it to two hours a work day instead of one will dramatically affect your productivity and can help you be well on your way to doubling your productivity.

Set yourself apart and focus on these three simple tips. If you follow these three tips and follow them consistently you can double your productivity this year and it your best year yet.
