I’ve heard it so many time and I know I even said it myself when I was new, which is that I don’t know anyone or my friends wouldn’t do this sort of thing or my friends are all broke and they will say no, etc. Well there are a couple things to keep in mind. Obviously we aren’t mind readers and we can never tell someones desire and work ethic or vision they can create for their life, so we shouldn’t prejudge people in our business. It of course is beneficial to lead off with the most successful people we know and “recruit up” however don’t leave people off of your list because you don’t think they have the money, or connections, or work ethic to build a successful business. Some people aren’t motivated because they don’t have a vehicle to be motivated about. Also if you are only “fishing in the pond” of broke, unsuccessful people, it can defiantly make building your business frustrating.

Prospecting tips for network marketing prospecting: Use more than one fishing pole

Another common mistake people make and that I used to make as well is that they limit themselves to only one thing. So for example a lot of companies talk all the time about warm market. Now that isn’t a bad thing to focus on warm market, however if your warm market doesn’t respect you, or they said no to you, are you just supposed to quit? Obviously not, so what else are you to do? This is where fishing in another pond and using other fishing poles comes in. So again if you haven’t talked to your warm market, you should start there first because you could have more than enough people through that market that could go and build a huge business with you. I don’t think people should dive right into cold market, however you should be learning how to do it and working on that skill as you are working through your warm market list as well. Your network marketing prospecting shouldn’t rely on only one group like warm market, it should include all areas, social media, warm market, cold market, networking groups, and so on. The more markets you fish in and more fishing poles you have in the water, the more fish you will catch!
