Ready, Fire, Aim.

“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.” – Les Brown

So many people get stuck in procrastination and planning when it comes to creating success in their lives. It would seem simple to use the idea of ready, aim, fire, but most people tend to be more like ready, aim, aim, aim, aim, and never seem to fire. The best approach as the quote from Les Brown suggests is ready, fire, aim. Action is the only thing that creates results, so if you want to have massive results in your life you need to take massive action.

Fear often holds people back and people think they need to know everything and have to have everything planned out perfectly before they start otherwise they will make a mistake. Many of the most successful people in the world have failed many times and don’t try and hide that fact at all. The fastest way to success is to double your rate of failure. Don’t get sucked into paralysis by over analysis, if you are trying to have all of the stars align before you take action I can guarantee it will never happen for you. Adversity and setbacks are all normal when it comes to being successful in any endeavor, if you mentally plan in advance and know you will encounter obstacles it will be easier to handle them when they do occur.

A great way to look at your journey to successful achievement of your goals is like taking a road trip. It’s as if you were going to take a trip from New York to California but you didn’t have a map and simply had to use the stars for navigation.  All you would know is you would have to go west and south. You could steadily make progress each day knowing your general direction but at night is when you would be able to check your “map” the stars to readjust your course depending on how off track you were from your goal.

Now you might get lost from time to time and decide to ask for directions to help you get to your goals faster. I would suggest that you do the same when trying to hit your life goals. Seek out mentors and leaders in your field or area you are trying to master and seek advice from people who have done it before. There is a good chance no matter what you are after there are most likely experts in that field who have written books or already have the results you are looking to create in your own life. Seek out good council but again only take opinions from people who have what you want and can show you how to get it. If you buy someone’s opinions you get to buy their results. You become who you hang around most, so choose wisely.

As I said earlier you should expect to encounter some obstacles but that by no means does that mean you could not get to “California” on your road trip. There might be road construction and you have to take a detour, it might take longer to get to your destination but your goal still exists it just may take more time to get there. It’s far better to take action somehow and start heading toward your goals and correcting your path, because regardless of the best laid out plans you can never plan for where and when or how the detours will come. Waiting will only keep you farther away from your end destination. Take action today and start to make your dreams a reality.  Ready, fire, aim.
