Network marketing tips

Should you approach your friends and family about your home business?

One thing to keep in mind while you are building your home business is the fact that you don’t need your friends and family to join your business in order to become successful, but you should still see if they are open to it.

If you don’t share your home business…someone else will

A common theme I’ve seen occur over the years is that if you don’t talk to the people you know and share your home business, someone else will.  It’s happened to me on both the positive side as well as the negative side over the years.

I remember back when I lived in Milwaukee building my home business I was doing some cold market prospecting and I reached out to a girl who ended up getting started in my team and got some great results in the business.

The funny thing is that one of my friends in another team in our business also happened to know the girl who started in my business who hit a home run. They had actually be friends for about 11 years but she hadn’t shown one of her best friends the business.

This situation was great for me as an example of why you should talk to everyone you know.  Unfortunately I’ve experienced the opposite end of this as well.

You never know what one person can turn into while building your home business

A few years back I had an acquaintance and girl I used to work with who I knew, but not that well and I hadn’t decided to show her my business.

A few months later I had her come up to me and say something like “Hey Mike! Are you with XYZ company?? I just got started with Sally…How are you liking it so far? Are you seeing any results??”

If you haven’t had this happen…trust me you don’t.  You’ll get quite a sick feeling in your stomach when you could have been the one to bring them into your team if you only would have shared your business with them first.

The next few weeks I saw more and more people who I knew at every presentation…except they weren’t coming to see the presentation to get started in my team, it was someone else’s.

If you build a home business long enough, both situations are pretty much bound to happen to you, UNLESS you start taking action right away.

Some people may eventually get started with someone else, but if you are the first one to show them it’s far more likely that they will get started with you over someone else.

Even if they don’t join your home business right away there is a good chance they will reach back out to you since you were the first one to show them the opportunity.

I’ve found that one of the biggest reasons people don’t have success and don’t share their business with everyone is that they just don’t know what to say. Another common issue is that they are saying stuff that turns people off and away rather than attracts people to see what they are doing.
