These Are A Few Leadership Characteristics You Should Be Focused On
Leadership characteristics that can make or break your business.
Some leadership characteristics can make a huge difference in your leadership training and development
Often new leaders, leadership style is focused mainly of flaunting their power and trying to lead with their title. This is not the leadership characteristics you want to emulate in your business. People lose respect for those in command very quickly if they are only trying to lead with their title alone.
In the book the 5 Levels of Leadership by John C. Maxwell he goes in great depth of what are some key levels of leadership you should focus on. In my experience the 2nd level on building relationships can be a huge part that can often be missed in your leadership training and development. Unfortunately I neglected this aspect in my business for several years, and it hindered my results greatly.
It may seem insignificant but the better relationships you build regardless of leadership style the more effective your leadership training and development of your team will be
When you take the time to build a relationship with your team the will want to follow you more than just when you tell them they have to because of your position. Think of bosses or leaders you have worked with in the past, maybe for example you had a leader in your company trying to hit a promotion with hitting a sales rank.
If you had a relationship built with them the team generally bands together and works harder to help that leader succeed. If it is a different situation and their leadership style was more of leading through their title alone, most of the team members wouldn’t care and would not work any harder to help them succeed.
So be sure your leadership style and leadership training and development program includes a focus on team building and relationship building. One of the great philosophies top leaders try and always focus on is that the team that plays together stays together. Make it a priority to have fun events for your team to plug into.
Another Leadership characteristic you should be focused on in your leadership style is one of leading by example
Your team will also be more excited and motivated to follow you if your leadership style is one of leading by example. If you are at the front of the pack and out doing what needs to be done your team will respect you more and you will inspire the right people with your action.
No one likes to work with a leader who sits back and watches everyone else work. Unfortunately many people get a few team members going and they let their personal production fall or stop completely. If you don’t focus on your personal effort that leadership style will duplicate in your team and people will adopt that mentality as well.
Soon you will have whole team of people trying to manage everyone but nothing will get done. Management mode is the kiss of death in network marketing so be sure your leadership training and development program for your team covers this common problem.
