How to be a Winner – Don’t Focus on Politics in Business
As the old saying goes there is production or there is politics when you are in business. There are two types of people you can be and that you will have in your team, there are winners and there are whiners. As the leader of your team you want to teach your team members how to be a winner and keep them on track and let them know they shouldn’t focus on the politics in business. People can gain attention in two ways, one is being productive and producing results, aka winning contests, hitting new ranks, becoming successful, or they can get attention by whining and complaining and trying to cause problems. You want to know how to be a winner? Keep the politics vs business to a minimum in your team. The first thing is to teach your people that there is only two options for team members and the ones that focus on politics vs business will be ignored. As the leader you have to celebrate what you want to duplicate and the biggest thing you can take away from the non-producers that are just trying to cause problems is to take away your time. It’s just like a child that wants attention by picking on their siblings or being annoying, if you ignore them they will stop. Create a team culture of ignoring politics in business and constantly recognize the people who are creating results. Focus on duplicating the mentality on how to be a winner not a whiner and watch your team grow.
