Certainly if you have a brick and mortar business you can create a specific twitter business account, but you really just need an account for your niche. For example if you were a network marketer and had a health and nutrition business, you could have two accounts depending on the content you put out.
You could have one twitter business account where you content was centered around marketing, team building, sales, leadership, personal growth, etc. Then you could also have a twitter business account with content based around health, wellness, nutrition, and fitness.
This gives you more targeting options and ability for using twitter for lead generation as you won’t be attracting multiple different niches to your twitter account. You could certainly also just have one account, but typically it’s better to lead with either product or business in your marketing efforts and not both.
Using twitter for business marketing: Utilize your bio, cover photo, website and pinned tweet
When it comes to using twitter for business there are a few key areas that act like your social media billboard. Your twitter bio, cover photo, website link and pinned tweet are the foundation of your twitter marketing strategy.
All of these places can be used for lead generation on twitter. The key is using them in the most effective way.
Twitter for business marketing can backfire if you use it in an overly spammy way, rather than leading with value. Just like any social media platform your marketing strategy hinges on 3 foundations.
If you are going to use twitter for business marketing you need to be building your audience, engaging your audience and finally selling to your audience.
Each of these prime real estate spots on your home page, used properly, can be a great means of lead generation through twitter.
How to set up your cover photo to use twitter for lead generation
As you can see with my twitter profile above you can see a layout that works well for using twitter for lead generation. The 4 key areas to focus on are your bio, website link, cover photo and pinned tweet.
Let’s start with how to use your cover photo in twitter for business. The cover photo is a great place to brand yourself, have your websites and share the value you offer through your tagline.
For example I help people build a profitable business from home. It’s stated clearly on my cover photo and people can see where to learn more because I have my website included as well on it.
Formatting your cover photo in this way can help you use twitter for lead generation and driving traffic.
Twitter for business tips: Using your bio for lead generation on twitter
Another prime real estate spot on your twitter account is your bio. You can accomplish a few things here and it is a great spot for twitter marketing.
Your twitter bio, when used correctly can build rapport as well as for lead generation on twitter. Your bio should have a few quick blurbs about who you are as a person or who you serve if it is just a twitter business account.
For example my twitter account says “Gamer, Nerd, Home Business Coach.” This shares a bit about me, to help relate to others seeing my profile, and then gets into how I use twitter in business.
The second half of your twitter bio can be used as a place for lead generation through twitter. You can have a brief description of some problem you can solve for your target market and then link to a lead magnet that solves it.
For example I use twitter for business to help people struggling to build their businesses on social media lean how to use twitter for lead generation. So in my bio it says, “Learn how to get fresh leads, sales, and sign ups for your business. Free training: CoachMikeMacDonald.com/5daycoaching”
This directs my audience to a free lead generation boot camp to teach them how to generate leads with social media. When you offer your target market a lead magnet or free offer in this way, you can use twitter for lead generation without being spammy or pushy.
How to use your pinned tweet on twitter for business marketing
The other major way of using twitter for lead generation is by properly utilizing your pinned tweet. You pinned tweet is an area where you will get a lot of traffic to.
Basically any time someone comes to your profile, via seeing a tweet they liked, following you, being followed, and a whole lot of other reasons, will cause them to see your pinned tweet. Since you’ll have a lot of traffic seeing that tweet, it can be utilized for lead generation through twitter when positioned correctly.
This is a very similar twitter marketing strategy to your bio description, but you just solely use you pinned tweet to promote a lead magnet. You’ll want to state a problem your target market has, and then share how your lead magnet can help them solve that problem.
With a lot of people in your target market seeing your pinned tweet in this way, you will generate a lot of new leads on a daily basis.
