I was out at a restaurant the other day and at the bar and I overheard and observed a gentleman trying to prospect the bartender. I gathered that he wasn’t in the same company as me so I figured I would take the chance and observe what some other people are doing in the industry and see what I could learn from his attempt. I thought it would be a great time to showcase what are somethings you should be doing while mlm recruiting and some things you shouldn’t be.

MLM recruiting tips: Don’t be weird

I get that it’s awkward when you are first starting to prospect cold market for the first time. I remember being terrible at it when I first starthttps://coachmikemacdonald.com/wp-admin/post-new.phped. (Well I was terrible at meeting new people in general, for business or not) However when you are prospecting for mlm recruiting, you want to not be weird or annoying when you are prospecting. For example this guy I was observing was being very high maintenance, and asking weird questions about drinks asking for a special glass for his beer, etc. The last thing you want to do if you are prospecting someone at their job is make their job harder and more of a hassle and be a high maintenance customer.

MLM recruiting tips: Pay attention to your surroundings

It falls into the not being weird category but you want to pay attention to your surroundings when mlm recruiting. This guy for example was in a full suit and tie and brought a stack of books and a note book and sat at the bar. Now it’s definitely fine to be dressed sharp while recruiting but at the same time pay attention to where you are at. It was a pretty casual fun restaurant and bar, not the kind of place anyone would go to in a suit for the most part, so that initially was a little awkward. In addition to that he had a huge stack of books he was sifting though and taking notes down. Again pay attention to your surroundings, if you were in a coffee shop this kind of thing wouldn’t be so weird, however not the kind of thing you would bring to the bar.

MLM recruiting tips: Always have your list with you

Now this guy wasn’t all bad, there were definitely a couple good things he did that you should be doing as well in your business. One good thing is that he had his list with him. His notebook was full of names he was prospecting so when he got the number from the bartender he had that natural fear of loss in play when he was showing he was talking to a lot of other people besides her. Another great opportunity for doing this is after you are done with the presentation and you are casting vision for where you are going in your business.

MLM recruiting tips: Use a 3rd party expert

Another great thing he did was he was talking about having to run it by his other business partner and that, his other business partner made more of the final decision and that he would pass it off to them and that they would contact the bartender back. This is a great strategy to use when you are approaching your warm market as well. As the old saying goes a profit isn’t welcome in their own home town. So if you are talking to your friends, family, or other people close to you it should be a priority to introduce a 3rd party expert you can edify.
