Turning Your Small Business into a Brand

When you sell several products or the is more than one aspect to the service you offer, you need to develop your brand that envelopes that whole business.  Branding will help to make your business stand out from your competitors and grow the customer base. It will support your marketing efforts, as your brand becomes known.  It can be an important step toward the success of your business, and you do not have to feel the benefits of creating a brand.

Create A Logo That Customers Will Like

One of the first steps in creating a brand is having a logo that can be put on anything that is business related. Whether it is packaging, emails, letters, adverts or social media posts they should all include your logo.

The design should be simple, original, and easy to understand and if your customers like it, it will soon become known as being related to your business. A good way to find out what your customers would like is to chat with some of them about your plans.

Find out how they feel about your company and what things attract them to it. Then you may be able to incorporate some of what they have said in your logo design.

You can send out a poll to your email list, or even do one through your YouTube channel. While your logo is important, it can always be changed down the road. Don’t stress out about it being perfect or that it is set in stone once you create it move forward and you can always improve it or change as necessary as your brand evolves.

Be Bold And Brand Yourself And Your Business

When you are considering anything to do with your brand you need to be bold if you want it to stand out above all the others. There are many brands already on the market that look similar and you do not want to become one of those.

While creating your company brand is important, almost as important if not more so is branding yourself. Now, this isn’t as important if you are building your company from scratch, but if you are offering personal services, or even have a business like network marketing or affiliate marketing you should brand yourself.

The reason for this is because people want to work with people and leaders, not just a company. When you are in competition with thousands if not even hundreds of thousands of people marketing the same thing, you need a way to stand out.

This is why branding yourself is important. Also for whatever reason, you may decide to promote something different down the road. If you are branding only a specific company, you can accidentally back yourself into a corner.

The last thing you want is to invest years building up a company brand only to have it go away and have nothing to show for it. However when you brand yourself, wherever you go, there you are, and your work won’t be wasted if you promote something else.

Make Some Free Gifts To Promote Your Brand

A great way to get your brand seen is to create some free gifts that incorporate it. For instance, The Pin Factory makes dog tags, key rings, medals, coins, button badges, lapel pins, wearable’s, bar items and packaging among other things.

These mean that every time someone opens their front door they will see your brand on their key ring.  Each time they open a bottle of beer with a branded opener they will see it again.

These types of items can put your brand in front of consumers many times a day and that can easily result in an increase in your customer base. You also should consider giving away free things that are like an ebook, video course, or audio training.

This type of give away can be used to build awareness as well as generate leads for your business. Doing this type of promotion and marketing is actually the foundation of attraction marketing. Know Your Target Audience You Want To Attract With Your Brand

When you are working on any sort of marketing strategy you have to learn as much as you can about your target audience. Branding is a form of marketing and you should do the same before you decide on how you want your brand to be.

Your branding should relate to the consumers you are aiming to connect with. If you are selling to teenagers, for example, you will need a branding that has a teenage attitude about it.

If you are selling computer peripherals you will need to connect with other businesses or students at colleges and universities.

Again your branding doesn’t just have to be about your specific product or service. You can make your brand about you as the leader in your niche.

It’s much easier and recommended to brand yourself to a niche. That way you can talk about a wide range of content, but all of it can still serve your niche.

For example, my niche is service home business owners. This allows me to talk about things like marketing skills, leadership development, sales tips, online marketing, blogging, Instagram, video marketing, among other things.

As long as you can relate your content back to your niche for your brand you are good to go!

Choose Some Themes

Look at the types of products you sell, or the service you offer, and choose some themes from them. Incorporate those into your branding and it becomes easier to market.

For instance, if you are selling accessories for babies, you could have one theme for strollers, another for toys and the third one for nurseries.  These could all come with your brand but it gives you more scope to reach a wider audience.

It’s great to niche down for your business, but don’t go too small or it can hinder your growth in the long run. You can certainly target small niche issues and topics, in the beginning, to start getting some targeted traffic with low competition, but don’t make that your whole brand.

For example, I’ve done posts and videos about Instagram Marketing Hacks, but my niche itself isn’t Instagram marketing. Instagram marketing falls under the umbrella of building a home business, so it works, but if I branded myself as the Instagram marketer, I’d have fewer options for content and offers.

Provide Excellent Customer Service

You have to realize that the way you treat your customers is part of your brand.  Research has shown that consumers put customer service above everything else when they were surveyed about what attracted them to buy from a business.

Most customers would rather pay a little extra if they trust the company they are buying from. That trust is built by providing excellent customer service.

It will mean that your customers stay loyal to you and that they will recommend your brand to others.  It is quite normal for people to ask for recommendations on social media. If someone refers to your business that could mean hundreds of potential customers could see how well you care for your customers.

Always reply to any queries they may have in a positive manner, and try to exceed any promises you make. Telling them 5 days for delivery and it only taking 3 will be much better thought of than telling them 3 and it took 5.

Make sure there are plenty of options for them to get in touch if they need too. Social media, emails or a toll-free number will all be good as what you have to remember is that the happier they are the more successful your brand will be.
