Why You Need To Go Slow To Go Fast While Building Your Business

We can all sometimes get caught up in the “grind” of building a home business and focusing on going through the numbers as quick as possible, however sometimes it pays more to go slow if you really want to grow fast.

Why You Need To Go Slow To Go Fast While Building Your Business

Why going slow can actually result in better results while building your business

Now this statement doesn’t mean that you should take less action and not go as hard as you can while you are building the business. There’s a saying of fast is fun and slow sucks, it should really be directed at how fast you expose your business correctly with the right people and not waiting to share it with people.

However if you apply this attitude of when you are actually meeting with someone and sharing your business this can backfire. For example you probably have a video presentation that goes through your business.

Now I personally use a video presentation a lot when I share my business with people. At the same time, I don’t just send people the link to it and do nothing else to set the stage or talk to my prospects after they see the video.

Go through the numbers FAST in the sense of seeing if people are open and talking to a lot of people quickly, but don’t rush the process when you find someone who is open to looking at your business.

The aspect of where you want to “go slow” in your business, is when you are finding out your prospects needs and wants and fully sharing the benefits with them.

You want to spend time with the right people and going slow with your quality prospects

Here’s what I mean. You could send someone a quick 15 minute video about your business without getting on the phone and having a conversation beforehand, and answering questions after the video. You definitely will get results and get some sign ups with this minimal approach, however if that’s all you do you are leaving money on the table.

I personally really only do that option if I don’t really know if the prospect I’m sharing my business with has the qualities of someone I want to work with. I don’t think you should pre-judge your prospects and not show certain people your business and if someone is open to it and you can help them, definitely share your business with them.

However a key concept to understand about building a team and successful business is that you want to spend time with the right people. For example if someone is making comments that they may be leaning towards not being interested, or they are talking about being broke, or they are bad at business, etc. I probably won’t do a call with them before watching the video. I’ll send it out to them and follow up with them and see if they want to move forward and talk more from there.

If I’m skeptical that someone is going to be a fit with my business I will most likely pre-sort them by just sending them the video presentation and following up accordingly and if they are interested move forward from there. If they are, great, if not, that’s great too. Go Fast through the unqualified prospects.

Depending on our initial conversation, if the prospect really seems like a person who is qualified and they are someone I want to work with, I will do a much more in-depth presentation and fully go through everything.

Doing a full presentation set up with quality prospects is example of going slow to go fast

The overall idea is that it may take a little longer upfront to do a full on presentation, but you will probably have a much higher closing ratio when you do it that way. So figure out a balance that makes sense to you and the time you have available to put into building your business.

For example lets say you only have 10 hours a week to put into your business. Now maybe you can get 4 sign ups out of 10 by going through a full on presentation, but the downside is that it takes an hour each time. So you might only be able to expose 10 people a week rather than hundreds.

Now let’s say you went the quick video route and just send your prospects a link and follow up after they watched it. This option is much quicker so you can expose more people, but you might sacrifice your sign up ratio. This results in having to spend more time showing more people in order to get similar results fully presenting to a few qualified prospects.

With just sending the link, you might need to share your video and follow up with 100 people to just get one or two sign ups. The reason for this is you aren’t spending as much time with each prospect and finding out their needs and wants and sharing with them exactly how they can get it.

This is where going slow to go fast comes into play. Where spending more time with your prospects up front properly setting up the video presentation and then answering questions and concerns after the presentation, it can create better results out of talking to less people.

This is why in my business I am more selective with who I do a full presentation with based on our initial conversation and how you can go slow to go fast while building your business. Resulting in getting more sign ups from talking to less people because you set up your presentation correctly with your qualified prospects.
