Pay Attention to people who have the results you want

A lot of the time when you are building your home business, you will have haters and negative people, or even friends and family who think they are “helping you”, that give you advice that won’t get you where you want to go.

One thing to really focus on is finding and listening to people who have the results you are looking to create and who are there to help you reach your goals. When you find people who have results that you want, you should match and model them to create similar results.

All to often we hear advice on how we should do specific things or that our business will never work etc, but the people giving us that advice don’t have results we want or even success in what we want to achieve.

Matching and modeling applies in everything in life, not just building a home business

Recently I found this idea of matching and modeling and listening to the right people hold true in an avenue that I wasn’t expecting. If you haven’t heard yet, I’m kind of a big nerd and like to play video games.

I thought since I like doing videos and marketing in my coaching and business life, maybe I would give it a shot in the video game world as something to do for fun on the side.

Since I have a lot of experience in building online when it comes to the coaching and home business arena I thought it would probably be similar strategies if I did it in the video game world. I was correct.

However interestingly enough the same thing happened to me with my fun side project as did in the home business world that I and many other encounter. A few weeks into building my video game channel I had my first hater, telling me that the videos I was putting out would never get views and no one would subscribe to my channel because it’s not what people were into.

You need to consider the source when you get advice about achieving results

I figured I would at least here him out as I am new in the space, but I also knew from my experience in home business that you need to CONSIDER THE SOURCE. So I proceeded to ask him if he himself had built a successful YouTube channel for video games and what results he had.

I then learned that he had quit building a gaming YouTube channel after two years and that he never had gotten even 50 views on a video. At this point I checked how many subscribers he had and found that I had almost tripled his subscriber count after 3 weeks then he had grow two in over two years.

I realized at this point he was not someone who had results that I wanted, (actually far less than I even had), nor would listening to his advice make sense if I wanted to build a successful channel for fun or profit.

This is the exact same situation many of you face in your home businesses. You get advice from people in your circle of friends and you never consider the source of where it comes from.

So next time consider the source when someone gives you negative opinions about your goals and dreams or home business. If they don’t have the results and aren’t pointing you in the right direction to get the results you are looking for, I would suggest taking their advice a little less seriously that you might have been up to this point.
