How many times have you caught yourself worrying about a problem or event that happened that it turned out a few weeks later you barely remember or it really didn’t matter much at all?

This kind of thing can take you off track and one thing you can do to get re-focused again is ask yourself will this matter a year from now?

If the answer is no to this question you probably shouldn’t be spending much time thinking about it or energy worrying about that situation. When you ask yourself will this matter a year from now you start to look at things differently. You will start to see how to increase productivity with the fact that you will start to know what activities really matter and affect the bottom line.

How to increase productivity by moving unimportant tasks last

After asking yourself will this matter a year from now and the answer is no, you can still do those tasks but you need to change when you do them. When a task or activity really doesn’t affect your results and make a difference a year from now and you do decide to do it, make sure that you are working on those tasks in off times.

For example you might have to deal with problems in your team or answer questions new team members have, save this for late in the evening or early morning when you are not focused on your main income producing tasks. Another thing you want to start doing is automating some of the things you are currently doing, for example if you are constantly having to answer the same training question for new reps or are repeatedly answering the same question, you should make a video or audio training that goes over that issue.

From then on instead of having to spend time answering the same things over and over you can simply refer them to your reusable resource that answers that question. You now have something duplicatable and saves your time and can help your whole team become more efficient as well.
