When you run a small business of your own, you should keep an eye out for opportunities to establish your brand in its field or to expand it significantly. Trade shows are great events for anyone looking to achieve these goals. In this post you’ll learn some tips for how to build a brand and use a trade show and branding marketing to grow your business

What Is a Trade Show and how to use it for branding marketing for your business

First things first, let’s establish what a trade show actually is. A trade show is an industry specific event that allows business owners operating within the given industry a space in which they can showcase their goods and demonstrate what they have to offer.

They tend to be closed to the public, with attendees consisting of other individuals operating within the field, large scale clients, and members of the press and media.

When done right these trade shows can be a great tool to use as a part of your brand building strategies. You can also learn from others as to how to create brand identity that fits your business.

Why Attend a Trade Show? Learn how to build a brand

Now that we know what a trade show is, it’s time to answer the key question of why you should attend one of these events. Sure, you may not be able to sell products to the public as you would be able to at a standard exhibition.

However, trade shows do have their own unique benefits. By heading to a trade show, you can size yourself up against the competition.

While you may not make lots of sales at one of these events, it does give you the opportunity to build your brand and network with others in the industry.

You can see what other people are doing and offering and make sure your company is up to scratch in comparison. You can also network with other similar brands, potentially fostering positive relations that could lead to some sort of collaborative project down the line.

Preparing for a Trade Show: Bring branding marketing to promote your business

You do have to put a whole lot more effort into trade shows than merely showing up on the day. Preparing a few different elements of the day in advance, can help things flow smoothly.

You will need to book a space at the show, purchase a 10×10 booth, invest in display equipment, and have plenty of business cards printed off to hand out. You may also want to invest in promotional material, such as leaflets.

Additionally depending on your specific business you can also develop some kind of lead magnet as a free give away for your business. Depending on what you market, this could vary from a free book, ebook, or even video training course.

Give this away to all who visit your booth, in exchange for a name, email, and phone number, and you can also generate some leads in addition to your trade show branding strategies.

Book Promotional Staff: Let others assist in your branding strategies

Competition around you at the show is going to be fierce. After all, everyone wants to present their brand in the best light possible. So, to take a little pressure off your own shoulders, and to positively push your brand to passers by, you should consider booking promotional staff.

Provide these individuals with a brief, containing information about your company and its aims. You can then have them demonstrate products, sample products, or simply give people attending the event further information!

These brand promoters can also help you get leads to your free give away, which can help lead to future business. This can multiply the value your business gets from being at a trade show.

Sure, attending a trade show may appear relatively daunting at first. But as long as you prepare yourself well in advance and know what you want to gain from attending the event, it can become an effective part of your branding marketing.
