Network Marketing Tips: Why People Quit

Network marketing tips:
Why people quit – Are you setting proper expectations?

Network Marketing Tips - Why People Quit, why do people quit, network marketing training, network marketing tips, proper expectations, setting proper expectations

Do you know why people quit your network marketing business? Often times a major cause is you are not setting proper expectations. When you set up proper expectations for your new reps they know what’s coming.

By knowing this in advance they can mentally prepare for what they might struggle with. If you don’t do this it can be a major cause for why people quit your business.

Also another thing your new reps might have improper expectations about is reaching specific goals too quick or without enough effort. Not often, but you may encounter a new business partner who expects to make 10k a month after 2 months with only 3 hours a week of effort.

If your new reps don’t understand that network marketing is a real business that takes time to build, and that those incomes are possible, but it will take time and a lot of effort to do that, it could be a reason why people quit before they reach their goals.

Network Marketing tips:
Treat your new team members as if it were a traditional business

In a traditional business if you are new they usually have a week or two of training. If you were a waiter or a waitress for example they would train you to ask for dessert. In that business they would train that person that their job is only to ask, and that most people will say no or that they are full etc.

They would explain that it isn’t their fault if they didn’t want to get dessert but that they should only focus on asking and not the outcome. If for some reason that new employee did think it was their fault they might get upset and have hurt feelings and think they were doing a bad job.

If they constantly were emotionally attached to the outcome that could be a reason why people quit that business. So you should take the same approach with your new team members and set proper expectations with all sorts of aspects of your business so they don’t get discouraged and quit.

You should shoot for doing a game plan session within the first 24 to 48 hours of them getting started, preferably right away when they join so they will be prepared for what’s to come. Getting blind sided with a no or negativity, or whatever may happen could be why people quit your business before they even take any action.

Why people quit network marketing: Lack of discipline

Discipline to take the action steps daily necessary to win is a key foundation to building your network marketing business. Unfortunately, many newcomers to the network marketing industry simply don’t have the right daily habits and discipline to succeed at a high level.

There are really two foundations of discipline you need to master while building your network marketing business and those are proper money management and time management. Money management often comes in the form of working your job to pay your bills, as well as lowering your expenses to be able to invest into yourself and your network marketing business.

All too often, new network marketing reps will get started because they need to make more money. This is certainly common, but if you or people in your team are coming into the network marketing industry this way, you and them will need to learn money management skills early on.

Often I’ll hear people say things like they will invest in the training events or tools when they start making big money. Unfortunately, this is backwards thinking and because they aren’t investing in themselves and in their business is exactly why they aren’t making any money.

Why people quit network marketing so quickly sometimes is because they lack the funds to maintain their business overheads while they are going through their learning curve. Each persons learning curve will be different and some longer than others, but everyone has one.

This is why it’s important to work your job to pay your bills and take consistent daily action to grow your business. If you run out of money to maintain your overheads or if you can’t invest in yourself to learn the necessary skills, you’ll soon be out of business.

Lowering your overheads and teaching your team to do so as well so they can be less stressed while building their business and learning the necessary skills to succeed, should be a foundation to help people from quitting too soon.

Poor Time management is another major reason why people quit network marketing

The action steps you need to take on a daily basis are pretty simple when it comes to building your network marketing business, but you still have to take them. Many people that build successful network marketing businesses simply focus on the right daily action steps and make them a must every day.

You need to focus on your top income producing activities of actively prospecting and presenting on a consistent basis. Too many times new network marketing reps get caught up in the wrong things. Things they think matter, but don’t actually grow their business.

Inviting in network marketing is the foundation skill and action step you need to focus on every day if you want to be successful. If you or your team don’t learn and implement this daily in your business, you won’t get much success.

When your new team members don’t know how to invite in network marketing they will struggle, and many will quit. They will think that the business doesn’t work, when in reality they just were doing it wrong.

With a few tweaks on how they were inviting, they could become a top recruiter. Since they lacked that skill to be successful in network marketing they struggled. Overall though you can show people the right path to success, but some people won’t walk down that path.

You can’t beat yourself up over some people quitting, because some people quit everything. Your job as the leader in network marketing is to show the way and keep moving forward.

If your team members don’t follow your lead, there isn’t a whole lot you can do. You can’t want it more for someone than they want it for themselves. Often why people quit network marketing is that they just didn’t want it bad enough. They need to work through their struggles and learning curve and they just quit before they were successful.

I would realistically look at building a successful network marketing business as a 3-5 year project. Sure, some will get there faster. However, the majority of people will take at least 3 years to be able to make that happen.  This means you will need to do “COLD MARKET RECRUITING” in addition to Warm Market Recruiting. AND you will need a high volume lead generating system or you won’t make it very far. Network Marketing is a numbers game, and without the Numbers and Leads you have no business. If you don’t already have a High Volume Lead Generating System for your business….
