Ways That You Can Use Your Blog To Market Your Business

Ever wondered how to blog to market your business? When it comes to marketing your business, we all know that it feels good to keep it cheap and easy. Luckily, there are plenty of ways that you can market your company online without breaking the bank, and one of those ways is through a blog. Here are some top tips on how to promote your business through your blog.

Should You Blog Yourself To Market Your Business?

First and foremost, you need to ask yourself if you’re the right person to write a blog. You may love your business, and you may know the most about it, but that doesn’t automatically make you someone who can write great and engaging content about it.

If writing comes naturally to you and you’ve studied English or how to write, then go for it. But if that isn’t the case, hire a copywriter who can create effective blog content for you.

You can give them all the information that you want to be included along with a brief that’s as detailed or as simple as you want it to be, and they’ll create the work according to what you need.

Once they create the content for you, you can always go back and adjust it accordingly to fit your business. At the same time, you don’t need to be an amazing writer to get started blogging.

I was terrible when I first got started, but it is just a skill you can develop like anything else. Plus when you know the structure for an effective blog you can write them much easier.

Set Goals With Your Blog Posts

It’s a good idea to figure out what exactly you want to do with your blog posts. Maybe you want to demonstrate your knowledge of the industry or maybe you want to fill a workshop. Perhaps you want to demonstrate how your products can be used, or maybe you want to showcase studies of success stories.

It’s a good idea to figure out what you want to achieve with each post before you write it, or it may not be structured well. When you begin with a goal in mind for your blog post it becomes much easier to write backward to support that goal.

You can also break down the goal into individual sub-goals to help achieve your major goal. For example, if your goal was to fill a webinar your sub-goals might be to educate on the value of the webinar, and why that topic matters to your readers.

Your sub-goals can become the sub-headings of your blog post and you simply need to write a few hundred words a subheading to build out a quality blog post.

Keep Your Blog Posts Regular

When it comes to social media, you need to post regularly to keep your customers fully engaged. If you post once or twice a month, what’s the point?

People will forget that you exist and they won’t check back regularly to see if you’ve written anything. Keep to a posting timeline, and make sure that you schedule posts when you’re not around so that something is up on your blog even when you’re on vacation or at a meeting elsewhere.

Consistency is key with content creation and content marketing. At the same time, you want to promote your blog posts regularly not just write them and hope they go viral.

Follow the 80/20 rule. Spend 20 percent of your time creating the quality blog content, and then 80% of your time promoting it. The more people who can see your content the more likely it can generate leads and sales for your business.

Use Search Engine Optimization

One of the best ways to enable people to find your business is through search engine optimization. This means that you’re encouraging more people to find your site through including keywords and phrases that they might be using search engines to look for.

Search engine optimization means that your blog should be top of the list of results. It’s a good idea to hire an outside company to figure out the SEOv aspect of your blog – they will be able to help drive more visitors to your site and your company.

Again it may be faster, in the beginning, to hire out the SEO of your site to someone else, but the basics aren’t extremely difficult to implement. One step that you can do is keyword research because an essential step to creating content is to make blog posts that people will actually be looking for.

One mistake I used to make in the beginning was creating content that was valuable, but not searchable. When you do this you miss out on a lot of free traffic and it makes your content harder to find.

With a blog you have the advantage of having evergreen content, meaning once it’s created it can work for your 24/7. Unfortunately, if it isn’t SEO friendly it doesn’t end up working like that.

Don’t Just Promote Yourself Have Your Blog Focus On Your Target Market’s Needs

Remember that you shouldn’t just use your blog to promote yourself and your company. If you want people to really engage with your product, you want to provide a human, distinctive voice. If you just promote what you do all the time, people will switch off.

Go behind the scenes to show how the product was created, do profiles of various people who work at the company, but don’t just talk about how great your company is.

You need to lead with value first. The best way to blog to market your business is to focus on value-based content. The foundation to success with blogging to promote your business is to help solve problems of your target market. You want to focus on educating your readers and helping them overcome challenges or achieve better results.

When you do this your blog content will not only get more engagement, but it will also help develop trust, rapport, and credibility with your readers.

Use A Blog To Market Your Business And Drive Traffic Back To Your Website

In order for your blog to be the most effective it can be, you need a way to capture your site visitors information. Most people who visit your site for the first time will never return unless you give them a reason to or continue to provide value to them.

If you don’t have any method to reach back out to these people you are dead in the water. This means you need a method of capturing their information and that could either be through getting them to opt into something or through retargeting them with ads.

The foundation of getting leads for your business with blogging is creating a lead magnet and setting up the tools to gather emails and followup. As far as creating a lead magnet goes, I’d recommend checking out this post: Best lead magnet examples and tips on lead magnet creation.

The tools you’ll want to have are a sales funnel system and an email autoresponder. With a sales funnel system, you can capture leads and deliver your lead magnet and even start to automate the sales process.

An email autoresponder like, Activecampaign for example, can allow you to send out your ongoing blog content to your list and drive steady traffic back to your site. This is one of the best ways to develop a relationship with your list and convert those leads into clients and customers.

If you’d like to set up an email autoresponder and don’t yet have one, check out this free trial of Activecampaign.
