How To Create Curiosity In Network Marketing Prospecting

How to create curiosity in network marketing is one key skillset you’ll need for building a network marketing business. Curiosity is what moves people and it needs to be a part of your inviting process. If you can’t invite effectively you will struggle with building your network marketing business. In this post, you’ll learn some effective ways how to create curiosity in network marketing while prospecting.

How to create curiosity in network marketing prospecting starts with the invite

One common mistake when people are network marketing prospecting is that they try and explain everything right away. There is a huge difference between inviting and presenting. Your job when network marketing prospecting is not to be presenting it’s to simply invite someone to look at some information. You need to learn how to create curiosity with people when inviting.

Get out of pitch mode and into inviting mode while recruiting for network marketing. Most people who are just getting started in network marketing think that their job is to convince everyone they meet to join their business. Especially those who say they aren’t interested.

Unfortunately, most network marketing companies don’t teach that this is a poor way to build a network marketing business. Doing this will leave you broke and frustrated. Instead of trying to convince everyone you meet that they need to join your business, you first need to see if they are even open to it, to begin with.

Imagine trying to sell meat to a vegan. You’ll probably have a difficult time doing that right? Well, it’s the same idea behind trying to convince people to join your network marketing business that aren’t open to begin with.

How to create curiosity in network marketing doesn’t mean you are misleading

Creating curiosity is what will move people to action and is a proven way how to invite in network marketing. When you are network marketing prospecting, often your prospects will try and get the information out of you up front so they don’t have to hear your presentation.

Now you want to avoid getting into presentation mode and simply stick to inviting mode. This means you don’t want to explain everything up front before you share your network marketing presentation.

That being said you don’t need to be misleading in any way to achieve results with your network marketing business. It does mean that you just wait till the actual presentation to go through all the details.

I find a lot of new network marketers are scared to say anything about their business or even their company name because someone may have heard of it or google it. Certainly, you don’t want to have people prejudge your opportunity before they hear about it from a potentially negative review, but if you invite correctly using curiosity you likely won’t get that question to begin with.

Most people have the wrong mindset for network marketing success and have a thought process of “how can I sell this person.” What you really need is a thought process of “how can I help this person?”

How to invite prospects in network marketing while maintaining curiosity

When you come from the mindset of how can you help someone and seeing if they are open first before you get into your network marketing presentation, it’s easy to maintain integrity and curiosity. Leading with value first and how you can help your potential customer or prospect will make the transition to your business less awkward and also not pushy.

I find a lot of new network marketing reps hate to talk to their friends and family because they feel salesy and pushy. Well with the right network marketing invite you can completely eliminate this feeling.

For example, with a few quick questions to a potential business prospect, you could find out that they are frustrated because they don’t get to spend enough time with their kids because they have to work all the time. A great invite in this situation would be something like, “Hey Bob, I couldn’t help but overhear that it sounds like you are pretty frustrated with having to send your kids to daycare while you are stuck working so many hours. It may or may not be for you, but I’m just curious if I could show you a way to be able to make the kind of money you’re making now, but be able to spend more time with your kids, would you be open to checking it out?”

In this example, you don’t say anything about network marketing, your products, or comp plan, or any of the typical things people say while inviting. This is a good thing because it maintains curiosity while focusing on your prospect and helping them with their needs. People care about what your business can do for them, not all the cool features of your business.

A network marketing invite that focuses on your prospects needs is an easy way how to create curiosity and get results

Your job while prospecting for network marketing is to simply get your presentation in front of someone so they can make an educated decision about your business. When you go into explaining mode upfront you can ruin the presentation for your prospect and they often pre-judge your opportunity.

Think of inviting for network marketing like a movie preview. You want to give away enough so someone will want to see it, but not so much that they have the movie ruined for them. When you invite for network marketing based on their needs and maintain and create curiosity it’s like a good movie preview.

With the network marketing invite mentioned above, a simple transition to maintain curiosity could be something like this, “Since you’re open to that I’d be happy to clear up some time and go over the details with you and see if it looks like a fit for you. I know I could do something later today or potentially tomorrow if either of those times would work for you to hop on a quick call?”

Again at this point, your job isn’t to try and go into explaining now that they are open. Your job is to stick to setting up a time to run through the presentation. A common mistake I see is when people do say they are interested and then the person goes into verbal vomit mode and tells them everything.

Stay away from explaining mode as long as you can, until you are actually sitting down with them to properly go through your companies presentation. People love to buy, but they hate being sold. So don’t be in pitch mode and stick with network marketing invites that create curiosity and you’ll get much better results.

Use stories as a means of how to create curiosity in network marketing prospecting

Facts tell and stories sell. Click To Tweet

One effective way of how to create curiosity in network marketing prospecting is to share success stories. You can use this strategy to bring on new team members or to sell more of your products and services.

People are more likely to buy into stories rather than listing a bunch of facts about your network marketing business. For example, most people won’t really care about every ingredient of your products and the production process of how your products were made.

Most people buy on the benefits that your products or business provide not the features. This is where storytelling comes in. You can even use storytelling to help close sales and business after your presentation.

Look at this process like using a case study. Ideally, you want to gather as many stories and testimonials as you can, so that you have a lot of case studies different kinds of people can relate to. For example, you might share that you know a single mom that started with your concept and was able to stop working two jobs and raise her kids full time with this idea.

From there your network marketing invite could sound something like, “I can’t promise anything, but if I could show you what she did, and you could have the potential to create similar results, would you be open to checking it out?”

Selling through stories is a skill you should master if you want to become successful in network marketing.

Creating curiosity when you are telling people what you do in network marketing

Another common stumbling block that people run into when sharing their business is when people ask what do you do for a living? How to respond when people ask what you do in network marketing, isn’t about coming up with some fake fluff answer. Your job isn’t to try and impress someone by saying something that isn’t true like “I get paid to work out, and live healthily.”

That may sound cool, but it’s not true. You get paid to sell your products and services and build a sales team of distributors. Again, you aren’t trying to mislead people because that gives the industry a bad name and makes it harder for everyone else to succeed.

Instead, you need to phrase what you do in network marketing in the form of how your products and services help people. For example, if you work in a health and wellness business, you might say, “You know how most people are struggling to stay in shape with their busy schedules? Well, what I do is help people stay fit and lose weight without having to spend hours in the gym every day.”

Why this network marketing prospecting method works

This format works because you state a problem most people who buy from you or work with you have. The next step is you state your benefit and how you help someone reach it without resorting to the traditional problem with achieving that result.

Another example on the business end could be, “You know how most people are struggling to make ends meet, and don’t have the time to take on a second job? Well, what I do is help people build a second stream of income that they can earn more than a second job in only a few hours a week.”

This method of inviting in network marketing builds curiosity because you aren’t even inviting someone. You are throwing out the “bait” of something they want, and if they are serious they come to you wanting to know more. From that point, it’s simply transitioning into setting an appointment to share your network marketing presentation.

How to transition from your network marketing invite to presentation while maintaining curiosity

If you have a good network marketing prospect for your business they will likely be curious and ask for more information. This is a good sign. If they don’t ask you for more information, they probably aren’t interested in the benefit you described.

This doesn’t mean that they won’t check out your network marketing presentation, but you should try and find another benefit they are interested in first. Ideally, you have asked some probing questions first to you can discover a need, a want, a pain point, or a desire that you can help your prospect with. This is the problem and benefit you should use while describing what you do for a living.

After you have built curiosity your prospect will likely ask you a follow up question of something like, “how does that work?” you can transition to your network marketing invite with the following. “Now isn’t the best time to get into it as I don’t have everything with me to show you how it works, but I’d be happy to clear up some time and go over the details with you. What’s your schedule like this week and we can run through everything? I know I could do something tomorrow afternoon or sometime in the evening the day after if either of those would work for you in the next few days?”

Structuring your network marketing invite this way maintains curiosity because you haven’t gone into details about your business. It also allows you to present your business fully in the correct way at a designated time. It keeps you in control of how your business is exposed, which allows your prospect to make an educated decision on all of the information.

Understand that network marketing success is a numbers game

Another thing to realize is that you aren’t looking for everyone, just the right ones. If you are trying to convince every person you meet that they need your products or have to join your business, you are setting yourself up for failure.

The reality is, you are looking for people that are looking for you. If you find a problem your business can solve and your prospect isn’t open to hearing your solution it’s ok. You would just move on to the next person.

You need the philosophy of some will, some won’t, so what, next. Every person you show doesn’t have to join or buy from you for you to be successful. If every single person you shared your business with bought from you, there would be no one left to talk to in your business very quickly.

The fact that it’s hard and that people say no is what creates the opportunity. Treat your business like a numbers game and don’t worry about who says yes and who says no.

Use the law of averages to your advantage to rank up faster in your network marketing business.

Conclusions for how to create curiosity

Overall, creating curiosity is what is going to help you invite more effectively in network marketing. Creating curiosity isn’t about misleading people, it’s about using stories and benefits of your products or business to generate interest.

Determine if someone is interested and open to hearing about your network marketing business first. From there you can simply respond that you are happy to clear up some time and go over the details with them. This maintains your control of the conversation without you having to explain all of the details upfront.

Following this network marketing invite structure, you can transition to your business or services without being awkward, fake, or misleading. Use these strategies as your strategy for how to invite network marketing prospects and you will get results much quicker.
