Is Your Buying Process Too Complicated?

Selling to customers and clients is the backbone of the business. Without leads which transform into conversions, the company will spend more than it brings in. And, there is no need for a business degree to realize this is fatal.

Usually, this happens when the customer isn’t given the best chance to buy. They want to, yet it’s too complicated and convoluted, so they bounce and use a competitor instead. You may think your process is perfect, but shoppers will vote with their feet.

If your sales and profits could do with a boost, it may be because of the hassle element. If you are generating leads, but aren’t getting conversions, check out this free lead generation training.  In addition to that in this post you’ll learn how to simplify your buying process to increase sales.

Remove Boxes

Shoppers go online as it’s quicker and easier than getting behind the wheel and finding a parking spot. So, imagine their dismay when they have to fill out reams of information before they can proceed to the checkout.

Rather than comply, the majority of them will think “screw it,” and head elsewhere. With an added emphasis on data today, it’s essential not to ask for too much. Sure, an email address and phone number combination is fine, but a landline is over the top. So, is asking them where they heard about the site.

The same applies to generating leads for your business. You will certainly generate more leads when you ask for less information, but the quality of the lead will go down.

In this scenario, I typically recommend asking for name and email as required information, but phone number optional. The same goes for the checkout process.

If you use Paypal for example you can ask for an address with your payment. In most cases, especially if you are dealing with digital products, this isn’t necessary information.

Most people are pretty comfortable buying online these days, but don’t ask for more than what you need.

Add Payment Options

This method is two-fold. First and foremost, a modern company needs to be able to accept a payment from anywhere. You will have the internet taken care of, but what about the store?

Yes, there is a physical checkout yet there should be mobile credit card processing terminals also. That way, the long lines will be a thing of the past.

As well as extra POS units, don’t forget about the different forms of paying. Cash and card are the two most popular, but Apple and Android Pay are gaining traction. PayPal is still a widely used option. Accepting a range of payments makes the lives of customers ten times easier.

Provide Proof and testimonies throughout your online buying process

Before anybody makes a payment these days, whether online or otherwise, they need evidence. Not only must they decide if the site is trustworthy, but they also want to determine if it’s worth the money.

This is where previous shoppers’ testimonials come into play. Because they aren’t biased, they will prove to those with trust issues that you are legit. All you need to do is make it easy to find the info.

It’s straightforward on a website as you can create a tab, yet it’s tricky in-store. A screen with reviews running across the bottom may be an effective solution.

Adding testimonies to a sales page is one of the best options to increase conversions. Your existing satisfied customers are your best form of marketing your business.

Offer An Incentive to your customers

They may have bought something, but the battle isn’t over. Part of what comes next is getting them to make repeat purchases.

One way to do this, apart from offering quality services, is to give them a discount. A “10% off your next purchase” deal will act as an incentive to come back and shop with the company again. It’s incredible what people will do for a potential $5 off the items in their basket.

Depending on your kind of business, affiliate marketing could be another option. Offering commissions to those who refer your products or services is great incentive for referrals.

Add in up-sells and one time offers to increase sales and improve your online buying process

Another great strategy to increase profits and make the sales process easier is implementing one-time offers and up sells to your customers.  This can be used in conjunction with your lead generation strategy to market your business.

When someone becomes a lead that is a great time to use a one-time offer of your product or service.  Basically you want to offer one of your products at a massive discount only for those people that just became a lead.

Not only can this drive sales but you can combine this with an up-sell to bring in more profits.  For example you might start with a tripwire product that’s anywhere from $7 to $15.

After someone purchases that smaller product you can stack another offer on top of that with another great discount. From there you might sell a larger product or course for anywhere from $97 to $297.

Do this with products you would sell for significantly more than that price we can help increase conversions.  This is a very simple process to set up with PayPal or other types payment collection services.

Once your sales funnels are set up you’ll want to start driving traffic to your sites

One of the best ways to drive free traffic to your website is leading with value.  When you lead with value and offer content that’s all you target markets problems, helps develop a relationship with your audience.

All things being equal people tend to do business with those that they know, like, and trust.  An effective content marketing strategy can help you develop this with your potential customers.

There a lot of great content marketing strategies you’ll want to implement to grow your business through social media.  Having your sales funnels in place, and making your buying process simple, is the foundation. With those in place the next step is that you want to increase traffic.

There are many ways to drive traffic to your website but as the foundation you want to implement some type of evergreen content marketing strategy.  This is basically content that you can create once, that will continue to work for you forever.

A couple platforms to do this on and that I recommend is with blogging and video marketing.  When you create content on these platforms they can continue to work for you on a 24/7 basis.

It’s not an overnight strategy but it can bring in a lot of sales and traffic in the long run.  I’d recommend checking out my full post on how to get free traffic to your website here to learn more.
