The Power Of The Perfect Lunch Break

When it comes to productivity, most managers tend to focus on the time that their employees spend working. Of course, this makes sense, as these are the times when being able to focus will matter the most. At the same time, the quality of their work will be heavily impacted by their environment.

This goes further than just the time they are at their desks, though. Along with this, you also have to think about their experiences before, during, and after their shift. You only have control of how they feel while they are at work, making lunch breaks an incredibly important tool when it comes to keeping everyone on the right track.

The Time They Have

Most modern companies like to keep lunch breaks short and unpaid, saving costs and keeping people at their desks for longer. Research has shown, though, that those who are able to spend an hour to themselves each day are likely to perform far better than those who only get half an hour.

Not only does this help to keep people happy, but it also gives a chance for issues like frustration and anger to simmer down before they have to get back to it. Some companies will take this further, giving their teams regular small breaks, instead of one big one.

The Entertainment Available

While they are still at work when they are on their break, it doesn’t make much sense to leave them sitting with nothing to do for the whole time. Premium channel pricing for modern TV is nice and affordable, often coming as an addon with normal internet services, making it possible to open the doors to great entertainment for those working in your office.

Of course, this is something which you have to be careful with, as breaks can easily get longer and longer when people have loads of time for them. It can be a good idea to ask your employees what they would like to get from this before you start.

The Food They Eat

A lot of people fall into bad habits when they do the same job for a long time. It gets hard to keep preparing healthy packed lunches each day, leaving loads of employees to go to fast food places and corner shops to get their food.

While this doesn’t always have to be unhealthy, it is rarely a good way to stay productive, with the food you eat heavily impacting your ability to focus. Employers have the power to improve this for their teams, offering meal options which are far better than anything which can be bought on the go.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of improving your team’s productivity by giving them the perfect lunch breaks. Of course, while this may take some time and effort to get right, most people will see the benefits it can have for their business very quickly. This is something which a lot of companies simply ignore.
