On July the 20th, the new Quality Rater guidelines were released by Google, and while there’s no need to go into the gritty details, the one thing you need to know about this is that there was one change to the document.

A focus was instigated on Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness. These components are a major part of the guidelines, so be sure to hit these notes. If you don’t it’s a very simple reason why you’re not as high up the rankings as you want.

Content written by experts in their field is essential when you are pushing your business forward. So if you are promoting a niche product, when it comes to the copy, it is about treading that fine line between expertise and readability. Google wants content that is written by experts!

After Google, YouTube is the largest search engine on the internet, and this states that more and more people are looking for content that easy to digest, but doesn’t require much effort.

This is where online video needs to form an essential part of your marketing campaign. Yes, social media is integral, and we can spend a long time tweaking our social media campaigns, drip feeding content, but if the contents you have is the wrong type, and are predominantly wordy blogs and features, it’s time to take that leap into video.

The great thing about video now is that it doesn’t take long to set up an item of content that’s a couple of minutes in length, and it doesn’t even have to look amazing. Naturally, production values are important, but at this important juncture, if you’re looking to increase brand recognition and awareness of your products, an explainer video is a suitable place to begin.

From there, you can find your feet, and then you can optimize content specifically for YouTube. What’s amazing in the marketing realm is that there are so many businesses that feel ill-equipped to deal with this.

They believe it to be too much of an effort, and with this in mind, it puts you at a distinct advantage. And when you optimize YouTube videos, this automatically puts you in the bracket of the majority of Google search results. 55% of all results on Google contain, at the very least, one video.

And while you can get bogged down in all of the fancy tricks to manage your content, it’s important that we start from a place where we know the basics. As we can feel pressure to pedal faster and keep ahead of the game by utilizing the latest tricks, the marketing tactics that are coming up now may not utilize the most simplistic processes.

Simplistic doesn’t mean useless, it’s about providing that resourceful foundation for your content. On an article about Search and Intent, the point is hammered home about the very basics of Search Engine Optimization.

Another tip for SEO is to create longer content.  One mistake I definitely made in the beginning when I was trying to rank pages on Google was writing very short posts.

It might be easier to get out a lot of content if the posts are short, but they don’t do as well when it comes to ranking on Google.

Spend some more time creating longer content for your blog and you’ll get more free traffic to your website.  It might sound like a lot but ideally you want your post to be at least 1400 words or more. The longer your post is, the better.

If you’re trying to use search engine optimization to your advantage, and rank for competitive keywords, make your posts longer. You may even need to create post that are 4000 words or more.

It might seem hard to write post that long, but there’s a simple strategy to use that make it easy on yourself.  The secret is breaking down your content in the small little chunks.

Making your content easier to write to maximize seo

A great strategy for this is to break down your post into smaller paragraphs.  Think of common questions your reader might have or areas you want to cover, and then break them down into smaller chunks.

It can definitely be hard to write a 4,000 word post,  but if you break it down in to small bits, it makes it easier. Chop it into many 300 to 400 word paragraphs. Using this writing strategy it becomes a lot easier to create longer content.

Take your concept that you want to cover and think of bullet points of what your post is about.  From there it makes it a lot easier to fill in smaller paragraphs of valuable information.

When you do this it’s simpler to throw in keywords and maximize SEO in your post. Even if you have a small topic to cover think of how you can dig deeper on a content.

The longer and more valuable the content the better chance you’ll have of ranking on Google.   Focus on value and solving your readers problems and the better your post will do.

How to create more content faster with this SEO Hack

Another great trick to write content fast is using Talk to text.  I’m actually writing this post right now using the strategy.

 

If you’re a slow at typing, or just want to create a post faster, you might want to check out talk to text. In Google Docs you can actually go to tools, And under tools there is an option voice typing.

When you use this you just need a microphone. From there you can just talk into Google Docs and it writes out everything you’re saying. Most smart phones come with a microphone headset you can use for this. 

This makes it very simple to write longer posts in a quick fashion.  I can typically write out a 2000 plus word post in as little as 20 minutes.

From there it takes a few minutes to simply edit your post and plug-in relevant keywords.   After that it’s pretty simple to optimize your SEO throughout the post.
